Image metadata tool
Scan the Media Library for missing alt, title, caption, and description — then batch-fill with AI or manual edits in SEO Booster Tools.
Admin path: SEO Booster → Tools → Image metadata
Free tool for finding and fixing attachment metadata at scale. Works without AI for scanning; AI fill requires WordPress Connectors or SEO Booster Credits under Settings → AI/LLM.
Scan filters
Choose one or more:
| Filter | Finds attachments where… |
|---|---|
| Empty alt | _wp_attachment_image_alt is missing |
| Empty title | Post title is empty |
| Empty caption | Caption field is empty |
| Empty description | Post content (description) is empty |
Click Scan to preview matches. The table shows up to 50 rows in the preview; the scan count reflects the full library match.
Supported image MIME types for AI vision: JPEG, PNG, WebP.
Batch workflow
- Run a scan and review results.
- Select rows (checkboxes).
- Choose which fields to apply: alt, title, caption, description.
- Start batch — progress bar tracks completion; Cancel stops the run.
- Revert last run restores the previous metadata snapshot where supported.
AI generation uses the same vision pipeline as per-attachment metabox actions. Manual edits in the batch UI work when AI is disabled.
Per-attachment vs Tools
| Surface | Best for |
|---|---|
| Media Library attachment screen | One image, immediate AI suggest |
| Tools → Image metadata | Hundreds of images, filter + batch |
Tips
- Run empty alt scans after bulk uploads or migrations.
- Combine with dashboard Tools quick wins missing-alt count for prioritization.
