How to grant access to your Google Search Console property

To allow SEO Booster to fetch data from your Google Search Console (GSC) property, the connected Google account must have Full or Owner permissions.

If you or a team member encounters an “insufficient permissions” error, it means the connected Google account does not have the required level of access to that site’s data through the API.

Why full access is required

The Google Search Console web interface lets users with limited access browse site data. However, access via the API, which SEO Booster uses, requires the account to have Full or Owner permissions. Without it, Google will block data access and you will see an error like:

User does not have sufficient permission for site...

Steps to add a user to your property

  1. Go to Google Search Console and log in.
  2. Select the property (website) you want to share.
  3. In the left sidebar, click the ⚙ Settings link.
  4. Choose Users and permissions.
  5. Click Add user in the top right corner.
  6. Enter the email address you want to give access to, and select Full access (or Owner if needed).

Important: SEO Booster needs Full access at minimum to read GSC data via the API.

After updating permissions

Once you’ve added the new user:

  • Return to your WordPress dashboard
  • Open SEO Booster settings
  • Re-authenticate your Google account (if needed)
  • Try fetching your GSC data again

If the issue persists, please contact our support team and include a screenshot of the permissions screen in GSC.

User does not have sufficient permission for site...

SÄdan giver du en bruger adgang

  2. VĂŠlg den ejendom (website), du vil dele.
  3. Klik pĂ„ ⚙ Indstillinger i venstre menu.
  4. VĂŠlg Brugere og tilladelser.
  5. Klik pÄ TilfÞj bruger Þverst til hÞjre.

  • ForsĂžg at hente data igen
